Tina Knowles' 'Matriarch': A Must-Read Memoir Celebrating Motherhood and Resilience

Ms. Tina Knowles—renowned businesswoman, fashion designer, philanthropist, and mother to global superstar Beyoncé—released her memoir Matriarch on April 22, 2025. The book has already been selected as a featured title in Oprah’s Book Club 2.0, further cementing its cultural significance.
On Monday night, we had the pleasure of attending Matriarch: An Evening with Tina Knowles, Family & Friends, a stop on Ms. Tina Knowles’s highly anticipated book tour, held at the Brooklyn Paramount (385 Flatbush Ave Ext, Brooklyn, NY 11201).
To promote the memoir, Ms. Knowles embarked on a nine-date tour across the U.S. and the U.K., with events hosted by a lineup of powerhouse moderators including Michelle Obama, Keke Palmer, Kelly Rowland, Tyler Perry, Tamron Hall, Gayle King, and Stella McCartney. The tour kicked off on April 30 and will conclude on June 4.
Monday’s event began at approximately 7:30 p.m. with a stirring performance by acclaimed singer Deborah Cox. Shortly after, Gayle King took the stage to introduce Ms. Tina Knowles and lead a heartfelt and insightful conversation covering a wide range of topics—her early years in a girl group, her role as stylist for Destiny’s Child, her experiences with motherhood, navigating personal challenges including her marriage to Mathew Knowles, and her recent health scare. Ms. Knowles also spoke candidly about the journey of rediscovering herself in her 70s, offering wisdom, humor, and inspiration to all in attendance.
